How To Take Doxycycline

2 days before you visit a malaria endemic area, you need to start taking the drug as well as 4 weeks after leaving the place.

It is preferable to drink Doxycycline at the same time every day and always with a large glass of water.

Doxycycline: Side Effects

When taking the drug, the following side effects may be experienced:

  • Loss of appetite or anorexia
  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea
  • Glossitis or soreness of the tongue
  • Oral Thrush
  • Blurring of Vision
  • Tinnitus or ringing in the ears
  • Headaches

Putting on sunscreen is also important since you may also experience severe sensitivity to sunlight which may lead to frequent sunburns. If the sunburns are too severe, then switching to other antimalarials may be needed.
