UK Meds asked our favorite doctor, Dr. Christian Jessen, to explain Haemorrhoids. Below is what he has to say.

Haemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen veins located around the anus and in the lower rectum. About half of all adults have experienced haemorrhoids by the age of 50. These swollen veins can appear either inside or outside your bottom and they can be very painful, especially when those piles are external. Fortunately, relief is available and you can buy a range of effective products such as Anusol HC, Perinal, Proctofoam HC and Xyloproct from UK Meds.

Symptoms of haemorrhoids include itching, irritation and pain around the anus, especially when going to the loo, and they can make keeping clean in that area difficult too. For pain relief, try soaking in a warm bath or sitting on a hot water bottle. Try to avoid using soap to wash your bottom, because this can aggravate haemorrhoids. It's also a good idea to increase your water intake and consume foods that are high in dietary fiber to keep your stools soft and to help make haemorrhoids less likely to occur.

What is Scheriproct?

The medication attacks piles in two ways. First it acts as an anaesthetic. One of the active ingredients in the medical treatment, cinchocaine, numbs the area afflicted by the haemorrhoids. The second active ingredient, prednisolone, is an anti-inflammatory that relaxes the blood vessels in the rectum area and decreases all the other discomforts.

This medication is used as a treatment to haemorrhoids but not as a preventive measure. Patients get relief from using the medication for 7 days.

How does Scheriproct work?

On the other hand, prednisolone is a type of steroid that reduces swelling of piles and the itchiness that comes with it.
