Gyno-Daktarin comes in the form of vaginal capsules and cream. Both contain the active ingredient miconazole. Miconazole is an antifungal medication that is used in the treatment of infections with yeasts and fungi. Gyno-Daktarin products may be used for the treatment of fungal infections of the vagina, such as the vaginal thrush.

Gyno-Daktarin, both the capsules and cream, contain miconazole, an antifungal medicine for the treatment of yeast and fungal infections, as its main ingredient. The medicine is used to treat fungal infections of the vagina, such as vaginal thrush.

Miconazole kills yeasts and fungi by interfering with their cell membranes. This medication works by stopping the production of the substance ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The disruption in the ergosterol production affects the cell membrane, resulting in holes appear in it.

The cell membranes are vital for the fungi’s survival. They prevent foreign substances from entering the cells and at the same time stop the leaking out of the contents of the cells. Because miconazole results in holes to appear in the cell membranes, essential components of the fungal cells leak out, killing the fungi and treating the infection.

Miconazole has some antibacterial properties and kills certain bacteria that may also be present in the infection.

Gyno-Daktarin vaginal capsules and cream are inserted into the vagina for the treatment of candidosis and other fungal infections. This type of infection causes inflammation and discharge from the vagina, known as the vaginal thrush. Inserting the medicine into the vagina allows miconazole to act directly in the area where there is infection.  It can also be applied to the outer vagina or vulva to treat fungal infection in the area and help relieve the associated itching.

Gyno-Daktarin is beneficial in the treatment of vaginal infections caused by fungi or yeasts. It is the treatment for vaginal infection that works really fast. The single-dose vaginal capsule works immediately after it is inserted in the vagina before going to bed.

Gyno-Daktarin vaginal capsule is a one-dose treatment. Insert it into the vagina just before going to bed.

Remove the capsule from its packet by pushing through the foil. Lie on your back to push the capsule as far as you can into your vagina using your forefinger.

Make sure to thoroughly wash your hands before and after inserting the capsule.

Gyno-Daktarin vaginal cream is a course of treatment. Your doctor may ask you to insert the cream into your vagina once a day for up to 10 or 14 days, or twice a day for 7 days. Follow the instructions of your doctor.

Use the applicator to insert the cream into your vagina. Follow the instructions in the information leaflet that comes with the medicine.

The cream may also be applied in the vulva and surrounding area twice daily in order to treat the infection outside of the vagina. Follow your doctor’s instructions.

Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using the cream.

Gyno-Daktarin products do not stain clothes but you should use a light sanitary pad during the treatment because of the leakage of the medicine from the vagina. It is safe to use Gyno-Daktarin during your period.

It is important that you finish the prescribed course of the medication even if you start to feel better. This will ensure that the infection is fully treated and will reduce the chance of it coming back.

The Gyno-Daktarin vaginal capsule is a single-dose treatment.

The Gyno-Daktarin vaginal cream should be inserted into the vagina once daily for up to 10 to 14 days or twice daily for 7 days.

This medication, however, may interact with warfarin. Your doctor should be monitoring your clotting time if you use warfarin while taking Gyno-Daktarin.
