UK Meds asked our favorite doctor, Dr. Christian Jessen, to explain Diabetes. Below is what he has to say.

Diabetes is a disease which impairs the body's ability to produce insulin, resulting in the abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates, which leads to elevated levels of blood glucose. People with diabetes can experience a number of complications including skin and eye problems, nerve damage that can cause painful tingling sensation in the hands and feet, kidney disease that can eventually lead to kidney failure, high blood pressure and much more.

Symptoms of diabetes can include blurred vision, feeling tired, increased thirst and the need to pee more frequently. Diabetes can be managed with dietary changes, exercise and medications. If you have diabetes it is very important to take your medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor and always attend your regular checkups. For convenience you can order your diabetes medications, such as Competact, Glucophage SR, Metformin and Onglyza from UK Meds.

What is Competact?

Competact is a medicine that is available as tablets containing two active substances, pioglitazone (15 mg) and metformin hydrochloride (850 mg). What is Competact used for? Competact is used in adults (particularly those who are overweight) who have type 2 diabetes.

Competact is clinically proven to be effective in controlling blood sugar levels taken once during the day and at night.

How to buy Competact online?

Competact could be purchased online. You just have to fill out an online consultation form, and once it is reviewed by the partner doctor, you will receive the medication the next day.

What is Competact?

It is in tablet form, and it works by reducing blood sugar levels. It can be taken by both men and women over 18 years old with type 2 diabetes. Another type of diabetes medicine is Metaformin. Your doctor will consult you which is the better diabetes medicine.

How does Competact work?

Type 2 diabetes is an ailment that involves the reduced function of the pancreas, which could not produce enough insulin in moderating blood glucose levels. It contains 2 active ingredients:

  • Pioglitazone – It is a type of antidiabetic medicine known as glitazone or thiazolidinedione. This ingredient increases muscle sensitivity, as well as fat and liver cells, to the insulin that means the body could utilise naturally produced insulin. This ingredient reduces the quantity of glucose produced by the liver and preserves the function of the cells in the pancreas that produces insulin.
  • Metformin – It is a type of anti-diabetic medication also called biguanide. It works by inhibiting glucose production in the liver and reduces the absorption from the intestines to the bloodstream after you eat. It enhances muscle sensitivity to insulin.

How to take Competact?

The medication must be taken 1 tablet in the morning and evening, with or without food, with a glass of water. If the meds upset your stomach, this can be minimised by taking the meds with or just after eating. They must be swallowed with a glass of water. For patients switching from Metformin to Competact, be advised to add pioglitazone into your system slowly, so you can safely reach the needed dosage. Read the instructions carefully.

The meds are available in 15mg for pioglitazone and 850 mg for metformin hydrochloride respectively.

Side effects and precautions

Competact carries a small risk for adverse effects. These may include abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and loss of appetite.
