Gripe Water for Babies

Woodwards Gripe Water is effective in treating trapped wind and gripe in babies aged between 1 and 12 months.

Woodwards Gripe Water contains dill oil which relaxes and warms the stomach, breaking down any trapped bubbles or air. It also contains Sodium hydrogen carbonate which works to neutralise stomach acid. These two ingredients work together to make the treatment effective and fast-acting.

Adults and babies alike get trapped wind, caused by food, drink, or simply taking in too much air. Babies, in particular, are susceptible to taking in too much air, as the process of feeding causes them to take in an excess (more so with bottle feeding but also with breastfeeding).

These air bubbles become trapped in the baby’s stomach, which makes the stomach think it’s full of food. This causes acids to be produced; normally they would work to break down the foods but when no food is there, it can cause irritation. Because there is air trapped inside, the stomach muscles are unable to relax so you end up with cramps.

Treating gripe and trapped wind with Woodwards Gripe water is both effective and fast, alleviating pain and discomfort quickly. It’s also free from alcohol and sugar, which makes it gentle on the baby’s tummy.

How To Use Gripe Water

Shake the bottle well before use and then give the required dose to your baby. If your baby is aged between 1 and 6 months, the dose is one 5ml spoonful. If your baby is aged between 6 and 12 months, the dose is two 5ml spoonfuls.

The medicine can be taken during or after a feed, with a maximum of 6 doses in 24 hours.
