How many Levitra can you take?

A large number of men will suffer from erectile dysfunction at some point in their life (given that the conditions is extremely common), and when they do, they may want to consider effective medications. Options include household brand Viagra, “the weekend pill” Cialis (with a 36 hour effectiveness window), and the very well-tolerated Levitra (an excellent option if you’ve had side effects with any of the other options). And if you are planning to take Levitra then you may have some questions.

How many Levitra can you take?

Levitra is available in strengths of 5mg, 10mg and 20mg per tablet. The maximum daily dosage is 20mg. So if you have the 20mg strength tablet, you should only take a maximum of one tablet per dose. However, if you have the 5mg or 10mg strength tablets and have tried one tablet and not had the desired result then you should speak to your prescriber.

Given that the maximum daily dose of Levitra is 20mg, you can take one or two of the lower strength tablets per dose without exceeding the maximum. It’s not recommended to do this frequently though, as if you’re finding that a 20mg dose is required to assist with your erectile dysfunction then you should look to be prescribed the 20mg strength next time (this is more practical and also more cost-effective).

Whichever strength of Levitra you are on currently, it’s important that you don’t take more than one dose per day. So if you’ve had one 10mg tablet and find the results are not quite what you’d hoped, then you should wait at least 24 hours before having another dose. You should not simply take an additional tablet after a few hours, for example.

If you have any doubts about whether or not you are taking your medicines currently then you should seek advice from your pharmacist or prescriber.

    How to take Levitra

Levitra comes in small tablets that should be taken orally by swallowing it with a little water. Like most oral medicines, Levitra is absorbed through your digestive system so there are some other things to bear in mind before taking it, to help you get the best results.

If your digestive system is already overloaded with a large meal or foods that are high in fat, then you may notice that the Levitra is not absorbed into your system as quickly or as easily. In practical terms, this means that it may not assist you as well with getting and maintaining an erection.

For the best results, you should take Levitra either on an empty stomach or after a light meal so that the medicine can be absorbed as well as possible. You should take it 30-60 minutes before sexual activity and the drug is normally at its peak approximately 60 minutes after taking it. However, the drug can remain active in your system for up to 5 hours so you may find that it can assist with sex for hours after taking the dose (although it may not be as strong as when you first took it).

If you find that the window of effectiveness for Levitra is not suiting your lifestyle and you want the opportunity for more spontaneous sex then Cialis may be a more suitable option. By comparison, it has a 36 hour window of effectiveness and can assist with getting and maintaining an erection throughout this time period.
