Is Viagra, Cialis or Levitra the best?

When it comes to erectile dysfunction medications, there are no complaints regarding range of choice. There are a number of effective and popular medications available to suit your individual needs and assist with sexual activity that may otherwise be difficult. But which one is the best?

Is Viagra, Cialis or Levitra the best?

Well, there are a number of positive points to each one and it’s largely a personal choice based on your individual requirements. It’s important to discuss your condition with your doctor or prescriber so that they can recommend which one they think is best. However, it’s also helpful to know a little information on each one first.

    Why is Viagra the best?

Since it launched in 1998, Viagra has become a household name and it’s the little blue pill that pretty much everyone knows about. Generally speaking, things don’t become that popular without being good so it’s a plus point that Viagra is so widely used and widely recommended.

Viagra works to relax the muscles in the blood vessels of the penis so that the user can achieve and maintain an erection. It gets to work fairly quickly, and those taking Viagra should do so approximately 30-60 minutes before sexual activity is planned.

The little blue pill will then remain active in your system for up to 5 hours, where it can assist with erections in that time frame. You will still require sexual stimulation though, as erectile dysfunction medicines help mechanically - they do not affect your libido or act as any kind of aphrodisiac.

Viagra does come with a risk of some side effects, such as headaches, stuffy nose and dizziness. Most men who do experience side effects will only suffer from these mildly, but you may consider an alternative ED option if they persist.

    Why is Cialis the best?

Cialis has earned itself the nickname of “the weekend pill” because it has a 36 hour window of effectiveness. Compared to the 5 hour window, Viagra pales in comparison to Cialis on this front.

But what is the advantage of a longer window? Well, if you take a Cialis pill on Friday evening, it can still assist you in getting an erection right the way through to Sunday. This makes it the ideal medication for those who want a more flexible or spontaneous sex life and those who may not necessarily be able to plan sex to a specific hour.

A long window of effectiveness though does mean a longer window of risk of side effects. Although the side effects with Cialis are mostly the same as with Viagra, you are likely to experience them for longer with Cialis because the drug is active in your system for longer.

    Why is Levitra the best?

Levitra is an ideal choice for men who have tried Viagra or Cialis and have experienced side effects. It is known to be very well tolerated and is often recommended to those who have had a not-so-pleasant experience with one of the other alternatives.

While Levitra does still carry a risk of side effects, it’s significantly lesser and is suitable for most people.

Comparably, it gets to work in 30-60 minutes after taking the pill and then remains active in your system for up to 5 hours. In that way, it’s a lot more similar to Viagra than to Cialis and sexual activity will need to be planned around the time you take it.

What alternative forms of ED treatments are available?

There are also alternative treatments for ED available to men suffering with sexual dysfunction than just typical oral PDE5 inhibitor medication such as Viagra and Cialis. These include penis creams for erectile dysfunction such as Alprostadil cream (also referred to in it's branded form as 'Vitaros cream').
