Nexium is a Proton Pump Inhibitor type of drug that works by reducing the acid produced in the stomach. Nexium is widely used to treat peptic ulcer, GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, dyspepsia, indigestion, and other diseases of the intestines as well as the oesophagus.

Nexium is a potent PPI medicine or Proton Pump Inhibitor class of medication used in preventing acid production in the walls of the stomach. PPIs like Nexium help prevent acid secretion inside the stomach. They impact the parietal cells inside the walls of the stomach. These parietal cells help release hydrochloric acid which is useful in the absorption of certain vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B12.

Nexium offers relief for a wide array of stomach related ailments. It works by blocking the proton pump in the stomach and inhibit the production of acid within the stomach. It prevents the production of harmful acids and offers relief for gastrointestinal reflux and related diseases.

Nexium is utilized in the treatment of certain stomach and oesophagus problems like ulcers, hyperacidity, indigestion, and more. As it works to help decrease the levels of acid in the stomach walls, it offers immediate relief to conditions such as persistent coughing, swallowing difficulties, and even heartburns. It helps the stomach environment to recuperate from the acid damage incurred within the oesophagus and stomach, preventing certain ulcers, and even cancer in the oesophagus.

Use Nexium as prescribed by your medical doctor. Check on the product information leaflet to know more on the proper use and administration of the medicine.

Nexium is often administered for a period of four to eight weeks maximum. The physician may recommend a second wave of treatment if you need more treatment with Nexium.

Take Nexium tablet with a full glass of water of about 8 ounces. Take the tablet at least one hour before any full meal.

Never crush, break, or chew on the capsule if you are using the Nexium delayed-release capsule type. To make swallowing easy, you can split open the capsule and put the contents in a spoon with applesauce. Swallow it immediately with a glass full of water.

Nexium comes as a capsule or in the delayed release form. The rapid release capsule can cause the medicine to be easily broken down by the acid in the stomach walls. The treatment can last for a period ranging from 4 to 8 weeks maximum.

Nexium is a prescription only medication. You may purchase the lowest strength available in pharmacies. The lowest dose is 10mg tablet. Other strengths available are 20 and 40 milligrams.
