Noriday tablets are oral contraceptives that contain the active ingredient norethisterone, a synthetic version of one of the female sex hormones – progesterone. It is a progesterone-only pill, unlike the combined contraceptive pills that contain both progesterone and estrogen.

Noriday is to be taken at the same time each day for the entire course of the treatment. It is not like the other contraceptive pills that have a pill-free break.

Noriday works in three different ways:

    • It thickens the fluid at the entrance of womb to make it difficult for sperm to travel inside and fertilize an egg.
    • It changes the lining of the womb to make it harder for fertilized eggs to grow there.
    • It prevents the ovaries from releasing a matured egg.

The main benefit of taking Noriday tablets is the prevention of pregnancy. As long as you take the pills correctly, you are protected against getting pregnant.

Always follow the instructions given by your doctor or family practice nurse when taking Noriday tablets. Otherwise, the following rules will apply.

The packet of Noriday contains 28 tablets, with a blister strip marked by the days of the week above the pills. There is an arrow that indicates the direction in which the pills should be taken. If you start your packet on a Monday, you will press your first pill through the blister fill that is marked with “Mon,” and for you take the next pill from “Tue” and so on.

You should take one Noriday pill per day at around the same time, preferably before you go to bed every day in the month. When you take Noriday pills, there is no seven-day break from the pills, unlike the other contraceptive pills.

Swallow the Noriday tablets whole, without crushing or chewing them.

If you forget or have missed a pill, follow the instructions on the patient information leaflet that comes with the medicine package.

If you remember missing a dose less than three hours from when you usually take your daily pill, take it as soon as you remember and carry on with the next pill on the next day as usual. Your protection against pregnancy will not be affected.

If it has been more than three hours from the time you usually take your daily pill, take it as soon as you remember and continue with your normal dose the next day. Use additional protection, such as a condom, for the next seven days because of the risk of getting pregnant.

Start a new packet of Noriday by taking the first pill on the first day of your next period when your usual bleeding begins. For the first seven days of taking Noriday, you will not be adequately protected against pregnancy. It is good to take extra precautions like the use of condom for the next seven days.

Take one Noriday tablet each day for twenty-eight days. Start with the new pack on the first day immediately after consuming the last pill of the previous pack. There is no seven-day pill-free period with Noriday.

Medicines and their possible side effects affect individual users differently. Not everyone who takes Noriday will experience the possible side effects.

The following are the common side effects of Noriday:

    • Irregular bleeding or spotting
    • Headaches
    • Skin rash
    • Depression, anxiety, or mood swings
    • Elevated blood pressure
    • Tender and enlarged breasts
    • Upset stomach
    • Tiredness
    • Change in appetite
    • Diminished sex drive
    • Changes in body weight

See your doctor immediately if you experience the following while taking Noriday pills:

    • Sudden shortness of breath
    • Sudden and severe chest pain
    • Changes in your vision
    • Difficulty speaking
    • Fainting or collapse
    • Weakness or numbness in any part of the body
    • Severe calf pain
    • Signs of thrombosis

Noriday should not be taken by the following:

    • Those who are pregnant
    • Those who are hypersensitive to Noriday’s listed ingredients
    • Those who have or have had breast, cervix, womb, or vaginal cancer
    • Those with a history of liver problems
    • Those who have unexpected vaginal bleeding
    • Those who have pruritus
    • Those with high levels of fats in the blood
    • Those who do not have periods
    • Those with red blood cell disease
    • Those with thrombophlebitis
    • Those with coronary heart disease, heart attack, or angina
    • Those with a history of blood clots or a stroke

Always discuss your full medical history with your doctor before you start taking Noriday tablets. You should inform your doctor of your current medical conditions or problems.

Noriday is used to prevent pregnancy. It should not be taken by women during pregnancy. If you think you could be pregnant while taking Noriday pills, you should stop taking it immediately and consult your doctor.

Small amounts of hormone in Noriday may pass into breast milk, although there are no known harmful effects on the nursing infant when used by breastfeeding mothers. Noriday does not affect the production of breast milk.

Taking Noriday tablets in combination with other medicines may stop them from working properly, and vice versa. Discuss your current medication regimen with your doctor before you start taking Noriday tablets.

You can safely buy Noriday online at UK Meds. You will first need to have an online consultation with a pharmacist independent prescriber before your order will be supplied. The online consultation will ensure that Noriday is the right medication for your medical condition.
