Read up

Piriton allergy tablets are used to effectively treat the symptoms of hay fever and other allergic reactions (including those to insect bites and stings).

Piriton contains a medicine called chlorphenamine maleate. This belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines, which block the substance known as histamines. Histamines are produced by the body when triggered by certain allergens and create the allergic reaction.

Summer can be an enjoyable time for most but for those who suffer from hay fever or those who are allergic to insect bites, it can be considerably less so. By blocking the histamine in the body, Piriton prevents allergy symptoms and allows you to enjoy daily life to the fullest.

Always follow the guidance given in the enclosed patient information leaflet and be sure to read it before commencing use of the medicine.

Swallow tablets whole with a drink of water, with or without food.

The recommended dose of Piriton is one tablet every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.

If you take more Piriton than you should then contact your doctor immediately and do not drive in the meantime. If you forget a dose then take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s nearly time for your next dose. Do not take two tablets at once; if it’s nearly time for the next dose then simply skip the forgotten one.

Before taking this medication, you should always first check that it is suitable for you and any of your associated medical conditions. Do not take Piriton if:

    • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients
    • If you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression in the last two weeks
    • If you are taking other antihistamines

Because of the way that medications interact with each other, you should talk to a doctor before taking Piriton if you are already taking any other medications, particularly those for epilepsy, anxiety or sleep.

Talk to a doctor before using Piriton if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have any existing medical conditions.

The most common side effects of Piriton are:

    • Drowsiness
    • Feeling tired
    • Difficulty concentrating
    • Stomach problems
    • Loss of appetite

You should cease using Piriton immediately and contact your doctor if you experience any serious side effects or if you notice signs of an allergic reaction.

You can safely buy Piriton online at UK Meds, without the need for a prescription or consultation with a medical professional, however you should adhere to the advice given in the patient leaflet enclosed.
