Ranitidine is a prescription drug that is widely used to treat stomach ulcers and stops healed intestinal ulcers from recurring by actively reducing stomach acid production. The medication is further used to treat GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, and peptic ulcers. In some cases, Ranitidine is used to treat hives.

Ranitidine belongs to the class of drugs known as Histamine-2 blockers.

Ranitidine is a medication that is referred to as histamine receptor antagonists - a kind of drug that works in the same way as PPIs. This medication is used to treat stomach and intestinal ulcers, GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, and peptic ulcers.

Ranitidine works by blocking enzymes inside the stomach walls that create acid. By effectively blocking these enzymes, the acid production is radically reduced and it enables the oesophagus as well as the stomach to heal itself.

Ranitidine is a medication and it works to shut off the cells that are producing acid in the stomach. It helps reduce the acid levels in the stomach and help prevent painful symptoms associated with certain ailments as GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Ranitidine is a prescription drug known as an H2 (Histamine 2) blockers. It treats certain ulcers in the stomach and intestines as well as prevents them from coming back once they are completely healed.

By reducing the levels of acid in ones stomach, it helps relieve patients from the pain of stomach and intestinal ulcers. It is also prescribed to treat symptoms of cough that does not go away, heartburn, stomach pains, intestinal pains, and difficulty swallowing.

Ranitidine Tablets

Use Ranitidine as directed by your physician or as indicated in the product information label. Do not attempt to take a smaller or bigger dose of Ranitidine than that recommended by your nurse, doctor, or pharmacist.

Do not chew, break, or cut the effervescent Ranitidine tablet. Take the tablet by dissolving it on your tongue. The 25 mg Ranitidine tablet must be dissolved in one teaspoon water before consuming. The 150 mg Ranitidine tablet can be dissolved in six to eight ounces water before swallowing. Once the Ranitidine tablet is dissolved entirely in water, drink the mixture.

Make it a habit to measure liquid Ranitidine medicine with the right dosage measuring cup or spoon. Do not use a regular teaspoon as this will not give you the accurate dosage. Ask your nurse or pharmacist for further assistance if you need a measuring cup or spoon for your Ranitidine medication.

The healing period for ulcers can take up to 6-8 weeks. Continue using Ranitidine as directed by your physician, and inform your doctor when your symptoms fail to improve after 6-8 weeks of Ranitidine treatment.

It has not been established if Ranitidine is safe for use by children one month and younger, so do not administer the medication to babies.

For senior citizen patients, aged 65 years old and beyond, their kidneys are not working in their best condition and this can cause the body to slow down in processing the drugs. This can raise the risk of adverse effects and so Ranitidine is not recommended for these patients.
