How To Take Bisoprolol?

Take this medication as advised by your physician or healthcare provider. If unsure, always ask your doctor about it. Treatment using Bisoprolol requires periodic monitoring from your doctor. This is important at the inception of the treatment and as the dosage is increased. It is widely used among adults and the elderly and is taken in the long term. The medication may be taken with or without food preferably in the morning with a glass of water.

Bisoprolol Dosage

When starting the medication, start with a low dose and increase as may be needed. The dosage can range from 5mg, 25mg, up to 75mg. The recommended maximum daily dose is 10mg.

Bisoprolol Warnings

Bisoprolol is not recommended for use by children. If you forget to take Bisoprolol, never attempt to take a double dose to make up for the forgotten dosage. Instead, take the usual dose on the next day. Never stop taking the medication unless otherwise told by your medical doctor. Avoid taking Bisoprolol if:

  • You have asthma
  • You have serious lung disease
  • You have blood circulation problems which can cause your toes/fingers to turn white or blue
  • You have the tumor in the adrenal gland also known as Phaeochromocytoma
  • You have too much acid on your blood
  • You have allergies to the main ingredients found on Bisoprolol

Never take the medication if you have heart failure that's recently developed, low blood pressure, or an irregular/slow heartbeat.

Or if you will be undergoing surgery under anaesthesia as Bisoprolol can cause a reaction.

Bisoprolol Side Effects

Like any other medication, Bisoprolol can also cause side effects, but there are reports that not all people tend to get any of them. As a precaution, always seek the advice of your medical doctor. The most serious side effects that have been documented are as follows:

  • Worse heart failure incidence
  • Slow heart rate
  • Irregular heart beat

If you feel weak or nauseous, or experience difficulty when breathing, contact your doctor immediately. Other side effects are as follows:
