Acnecide Gel 30g

Acnecide is a topical acne treatment get that contains the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. It is used to treat mild to moderate acne and works well in combination with oral acne antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline or Tetralysal.

Benzoyl peroxide is a keratolytic medicine, which breaks down keratin, a protein that forms part of the skin structure.

For more information on the prescription medication patients should refer to the Acnecide Gel patient information leaflet.

Acnecide Face Gel

Acnecide gel contains the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide, which breaks down keratin. Applying benzoyl peroxide to the skin will cause the breakdown and shedding of the top layer of the skin cells. This helps break down the comedones, blackheads and whiteheads, and unblocks the sebaceous glands. It also prevents the forming of new comedones.

Benzoyl peroxide has an antibacterial action, which directly kills the bacteria that cause acne, Propionibacterium acnes. This common type of bacteria feeds on sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. It produces waste products and fatty acids that irritate the sebaceous glands, causing them to be inflamed and create spots. By reducing the number of bacteria, benzoyl peroxide helps control the inflammation of the sebaceous glands.

It usually takes about six weeks for Acnecide to work improving your skin. It is important that you persevere while using it. If you have not seen any improvements after two weeks of use, you should consult with your doctor.

Acnecide is an effective treatment for acne. Its active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide breaks down keratin to allow the top layer of the skin to break down and shed. This allows the comedones to break down also in order to unblock the sebaceous glands to prevent the formation of new comedones.

Acnecide is also effective in directly killing bacteria that cause acne. By reducing the number of bacteria, benzoyl peroxide helps control the inflammation of the sebaceous glands.

Wash thoroughly the skin using a mild cleanser and pat dry before applying Acnecide gel. Acnecide gel should be applied to the affected areas of the skin once or twice a day. Do not apply the gel to damaged or broken areas of the skin.

Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the gel.

Take extra care to avoid getting the gel into your eyes, mouth, angles of the nose and mucous membranes such as the lining of the nose. Rinse it thoroughly with water if you accidentally apply the gel on these areas.

Benzoyl peroxide could be irritating to your skin. If you experience peeling or excessive redness of the skin after the application of Acnecide gel, you should apply less of the gel on a less frequent schedule. If the soreness will persist, stop using the gel and see your doctor.

Do not use Acnecide excessively. Excessive use of the gel will not make it more effective but will only increase the chance of irritating your skin.
