More Information

Hedrin Lotion is an easy way to eliminate head lice. It is the only licensed, physically acting treatment for head lice in the UK. It is available without a prescription from a local pharmacy. The spray version is ready assembled for easy and instant use. It provides a contactless way to apply the lotion to the affected areas. Hedrin Lotion is odourless, skin friendly, and contains no organophosphates.

Hedrin Lotion is a water-based treatment that rinses out of the hair without leaving any greasy residue. When dry, it remains on the child’s hair while they play, go to school, or sleep. It requires two applications to stay for eight hours or overnight, seven days apart.

Hedrin lotion works in a way different from how conventional insecticides work on head lice. It does not kill the parasites through the use of chemicals, the dimethicone in Hedrin lotion works by physically providing a coat to the lice. The coat prevents the lice from moving and feeding. It also prevents them from excreting excess waste water. Both actions effectively kill the head lice. Head lice cannot develop resistance to the lotion because of the way it works.

Hedrin lotion does not kill the eggs, which makes a repeat of the treatment necessary after seven days to kill the lice that have hatched from the eggs that survived the first application.

If the head lice come back, you can repeat the treatment right away.

Hedrin Lotion effectively kills the head lice by covering them with a coat. It is effective in killing the head lice without the risk of insecticide that may harm the health of the user.

All members of the family with head lice should be treated with Hedrin Lotion on the same day in order to avoid re-infestation.

Hedrin Lotion should be applied to dry hair. Apply Hedrin Lotion carefully over all the hair and the scalp. Massage the lotion well from the roots to tips until the hair is completely wet. The amount of Hedrin Lotion needed will depend on the length and thickness of the hair.

To apply Hedrin Lotion to long hair, make a small parting and apply a few drops of the lotion along the hair, spreading the lotion evenly along the length of the hair. Repeat this process with numerous small sections until the whole scalp and hair has been covered.

The Hedrin Lotion spray is easier to apply. Hold the spray about 10 cm from the hair and spray evenly over the whole head until fully saturated.

Exercise care in preventing the lotion to get in the eyes or inside the mouth or nose. If the lotion will accidentally get in the eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with plenty of water.

Leave the hair to naturally dry in a warm but well-ventilated room. Avoid using a hairdryer

Wash the hair with normal shampoo after 8 hours or overnight. Rinse thoroughly and repeat.

Use a fine-toothed nit comb in removing the dead lice and eggs from the wet hair. Separate the hair into several sections and comb thoroughly from root to tip. Clean the com as you go to remove the dead lice and eggs.

Repeat the treatment after seven days to kill the lice that have hatched from the eggs that survived the first treatment.

Hedrin Lotion should be applied to the head and scalp in two applications. Each application should last for 8 hours or overnight. Leave 7 days in between the two applications.
